Patience is a virtue

Well, it's been just about two weeks since I sent the paperwork in, and it seems like they're taking their sweet time sending me an invoice or any other documentation. I'm trying not to let it bother me, but it's starting to stress me out a little, especially since I put in my two-week notice and bought the (very expensive) tickets already.

I'm keeping myself entertained by eating spaghetti and watching penguin cam. I feel like this is a good use of my time.

  1. If you want some consolation, you're not the only one waiting.

So far, I sent Admissions three emails (3rd="Here's my completed PDF", 6th="Did you get my PDF?", 9th="Anyone there?") and got no response at all. Yesterday, I sent Yamasa a fax with the documentation out of frustration.

I'm in the same situation as you are, in a way. My employer expects me to leave at the end of the month and my apartment and all the basic supplies are already cancelled. Oh, and the local Japanese consulate wants a week to issue a visa stamp. *sigh*

I'll call Yamasa on Monday. Sadly most of their office staff only speaks Japanese. Hopefully I can ask what's going on after something like 「英語が話せる方と話したいです。いますか。」

If you have Facebook, perhaps you could post a message on their pages (they have two) in order to get their attention.

    1. A late addendum to the above: it's quite disappointing to find the man pulling all the strings to have enough time to update his Twitter: http://twitter.com/declanmurphy

      *sigh*

What I don't get is that students are willing to drop as much as 3,000,000 yen to study at Yamasa, and they're left hanging when it comes to essential things like obtaining a visa. I really hope they're not this disorganized when it comes to teaching.

    2. Well, to be fair, I'm sure Declan's pretty busy with all of his duties getting ready for the new semester. The best thing to do is probably call them tomorrow and hope Mr. Murphy is in the office when you call.

Let me know if you find out anything useful!

  2. Got any news yet? I'm sorted now as far as the CoE is concerned. Got a FedEx tracking number and all. Wonder if it'll contain all the other stuff too. :x

    1. Nope, I didn't get anything back yet. Did they say they were sending out all the stuff or just yours? I guess I'll have to call them too.

    2. I didn't actually call. I was going to, but got stuck on the road and didn't want to from my cellphone.

Instead, they sent off an e-mail at around 3PM JST. It wasn't from you-know-who, but from a nice Japanese person at Yamasa CS. It didn't say anything about sending out other peoples' CoEs though. :(

    3. Just got it! That's a relief. Thanks for keeping me sane, European friend :)
